How to Overcome Procrastination - 10 Tips that will make You Achieve Your Goals Much Faster

Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing something you know you need to do. When you become an adult, it becomes your own job, to force yourself to do all the boring stuff you don't want to do, but need to, in order to get where you want to in life.

Humans are not the best at regulating themselves when it comes to this, so you will, most of the time, have to trick your mind and yourself into getting it done, because, like Mel Robbins said in her amazing TED talk - How to stop screwing yourself over:
"If you listen to how you feel, when it comes to what you want, you will never get it.. Because you will never feel like it!"

You are never going to feel like doing something you don't like to do. But the truth It's YOUR GOALS, and you need to be willing to suffer for the greater you! But I do have 10 amazing tips, that will help you overcome that procrastination and move forward.

1. Write down that main long-term goal on a piece of paper and think and feel how you would feel if you had already achieved it.

Visualization will give you momentum and put you on the right mindset to start taking action.

2. Organize that huge project by breaking it down to several small tasks you need to do to get there.

Write it down on a piece of paper!

3. Mark them by priority.

You can use colors like red, yellow and green or numbers. This will help you quickly decide which ones to do first.

4. Put that list in a place where you can see it every day.

5. Every morning, look at that list and write down in a new clean piece of paper, which of those tasks you can complete today.

Make this a habit!

6. Just start!

Scratch the tasks you completed, and congratulate yourself each time, you are one step closer to your goal!

7. Don't beat yourself up, if you were not able to complete all the tasks on the list.

This will make you associate pain and anxiety to this ritual, and that's exactly the opposite of what you want! Instead, just be happy about the tasks you did accomplish, and knowing that you are that much closer to that main goal. So just add the missing tasks to the next morning list and move on.

8. Everytime a new task or sub task comes up add them to the main list and at the end of the day mark the ones you have already completed on that list as well!

This will help you visualize where you are in your path to success!

9. Stop wasting time with social media.

Social media is known as being the number one productivity drainer, don't let them steal your focus.

10. Enjoy the journey!

"Feel the present, hold the vison, let go the resistance, enjoy the journey and trust the process!"
Frederik Talloen
